EDU4Standards is a research project funded by the European Unionwhich aims to renew standardization education at European universities.
Given that standards are an important driver of economic growth, the project addresses the underutilization of standardization in education and research. Despite its importance for the realization of strategic initiatives such as the European Green Deal, standardization education remains fragmented and limited today.
Our comprehensive approach includes developing engaging teaching concepts, raising awareness through events, expanding training courses, building a community of teachers and learners, and establishing an EU student association for standardization. The consortium, coordinated by Fraunhofer ISI, brings together 17 partners from 11 countries and signals a significant step towards embedding standardization in the European education system.

MiLeT (Mining Legal Text)
Information on the project (HFDT Call 2022)
- The Right of Communication to the Public in European Copyright Law - Examining the Coherence of ECJ Jurisprudence with the Tools of Text Mining
- From a legal perspective, the existing studies on the right of communication to the public in ECJ case law are to be given a new perspective through the methodology of text mining. Specifically, the results of "human" text mining can be compared with those of actual "text mining", in particular the extent to which these results deviate from or even underline
each other. - From a systems science perspective, the method in particular is at the center of interest. It offers the unique opportunity not only to compare the results of the empirical method with the interpretations of a proven expert, but also to discuss them. An iterative approach will allow the methodology to be gradually improved and, if necessary, applied to the specific problem. However, the main aim is to determine the general applicability of the method.
- The common goal is to use this methodology to create added value for the interpretation of ECJ decisions and to identify existing obstacles to text mining of judicial decisions. Overall, the research project is necessary because text mining in connection with judicial decisions represents new territory for both disciplines.
